Star of the night: Senior Ryan Ellis, the team's leading receiver in the regular season, scored three rushing touchdowns in a Class 4A first-round playoff game for host Nease (9-2). Ellis carried three times for 115 yards, made one catch for 12 yards and scored on runs of 61, 36 and 18 yards.

Turning point: On a reverse around right end and Ellis ran 61 yards for a touchdown and a 14-7 Panthers lead with 7:33 remaining in the first quarter.

On defense: Hunter Haynes made a one-handed catch and picked off Leesburg's Mark Smith in the second quarter. On first and goal from the Panthers' 12, Dalton Faulds sacked Smith for a 3-yard loss with 11 seconds to play. The Yellow Jackets were unable to score before the half.

Fast facts: Ted Stachitas started in place of injured Tim Tebow for Nease (9-2), but Tebow took five snaps. On Tebow's second play, he threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Austin Silvoy. He threw for 97 yards on 3-of-4 passing and two touchdowns. ...

Three of the games first 12 plays went for touchdowns. ... Tory Harrison scored on a 79-yard run on the the second play for Leesburg (8-3).... The Panthers scored two touchdowns in 14 seconds to open the second quarter. ... With 143 yards on eight carries, Nease's Daunte Owens surpassed 1,000 yards for the season. ... Nease's Rodney Sumter returned the second-half kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. É Nease punted for the first time with 9:12 to play in the game. 

Nease will play at New Smyrna Beach in a Class 4A regional final next Friday.
