Leesburg's playoff hopes took a severe blow Friday when the Yellow Jackets dropped a 20-10 decision to Orlando Evans in a critical Class 7A-District 4 contest at Trojans Field in Orlando.

With the win, Orlando Evans (7-0 overall and 3-0 in Class 7A-4) clinched the district title and will host a regional quarterfinal playoff game.

To have a chance at a playoff berth, Leesburg (6-2, 1-2) must win its final district game against South Lake on Friday at Leesburg's H.O. Dabney Stadium and hope that East Ridge loses at least one of its final two district games. That scenario would force a three-way tiebreaker for the district runner up spot.

Leesburg can finish as the district runnerup outright by beating South Lake and if East Ridge loses its final two district games against South Lake and Lake Minneola.

Orlando Evans led from start to finish. The Trojans got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on a run by Byron Walker.

In the second quarter, Trevone Perry got the Yellow Jackets rolling with a one-yard scoring run. Leesburg closed to deficit to 13-10 in the third quarter when James Eldridge kicked a 32 yard field goal.

Orlando Evans iced the game when Tony Steven reeled in a scoring pass from quarterback Levar Robinson.

Game time is 7 p.m. for Friday's contest against South Lake.
