A good turnout of fans got an eyeful of the caliber of football that the Yellow Jackets will serve on the menu this fall. There were many favorable comments, during and after the game, about the aggressive spirit shown by local varsity. Seems that the boys have the will to win this year-enough to get the job done.
Coach Stack paraded his entire squad for the fans; first look see, and the reserves did a capable job of filling in while the regulars took a breather.
Jimmy Marshall is a hard kid to keep out of a game. Although he was supposed to take it easy Friday night to protect his injured ankle Marshall played as though it was his game, and even begged to get back in, after re twisting the bum ankle. Jimmy got 14 yards on his first try, even though the Inverness defense was giving our line a lot of trouble at that early part of the game. He should be okay for the Apopka tilt next week, according to trainer Doc Haliday.
Jack Woodard played himself a whale of a game in his new backfield position. The versatile guard, who was shifted to right half only a week before the game, not only ran the ball over the Hurricane line, he also was outstanding on defense with his great job of backing up the line. The boy needs a lot of running though, for his halfback duties had him pretty well pooped in the final quarter. Jack gave up a pretty good chance of becoming an all-conference guard to help out in the backfield.
Bill McLeon and Wallace Hall didn't show the visiting scouts too much abut our passing attack.
