Leesburg native Danny Trevathan expected to be picked in NFL Draft, April 26, 2012

LEESBURG — University of Kentucky linebacker Danny Trevathan, right, could be making a big leap — to the NFL. Trevathan, who played at Leesburg High, is expected to be picked in the NFL Draft, which begins today.

SI.com, for example, projects the outside linebacker as going in the sixth round. Round 1 is today, rounds 2 and 3 are Friday and rounds 4 through 7 are Saturday.

SI.com calls Trevathan "a high-effort defender with a competitive nature" who has "a special teams mentality, which will be his ticket at the next level."

Among other Lake draft prospects, UCF linebacker Josh Linam, a Tavares High graduate, is projected by SI.com as a free agent prospect — "a two-down defender who must make his mark on special teams this summer to make a roster." Florida's speedy Jeff Demps, a South Lake High graduate, has put his football career on hold to aim for the Olympics.
