Monmouth never led and Beloit kept their rhythm, winning in the even numbered weeks, giving the Fighting Scots a 34-27 loss in Week 8. Each team rolled up nearly 400 yards of offense, but the Buccaneers found the end zone more often, taking a 14-0 lead in the second quarter berfore the Scots capped an eight-play, 68-yard drive with a James Lauber TD from one yard out. Two Beloit field goals put the Scots behind 20-6 with 1:14 to go in the half, but Monmouth engineered a late drive and found paydirt when Brik Wedekind hit Spencer Brown for a 35-yard scoring strike with 18 seconds left in the half. The Bucs added two more TDs in the third quarter to offset fourth period TDs by Trey Yocum and Wedekind. Matt Shepherd's 141 receiving yards helped Wedekind pass for 214 yards.
