Leesburg's Taylor earns start for UF in opener, September 8, 1992

GAINESVILLE - Junior Ryan Taylor has withstood the challenge of true freshman Jason Odom for his starting job at right tackle, Florida Coach Steve Spurrier said Monday.

Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 282 pounder out of Leesburg High, will join center Gantt Crouch, tackle Reggie Green and guards Dexter Smith and Jim Watson in the opener against Kentucky.

"Ryan has been working very hard, and he's earned it," Spurrier said. "But Jason will still play quite a bit He's worked  hard, too,"

Taylor was thrilled with the announcement. "That's awesome, just great," he said.
