Selection of Player of the Week continues to be a real task.

In the offensive category, judges took one of the recommendations of Coach Wettstein and weighed the previous weeks performance of the Deland Bulldogs (21-0 over Jacksonville Wolfson the week before).

When the hard yardage was needed against the Bulldogs, Bubba Pratt was there in a consistent performance eating up the short but important gains.

According to his coach, Pratt turned in an outstanding performance for the Yellow Jackets against Deland and in retrospect as well as the study of films, this is the way it turned out.

There is a tremendous amount of defensive football being played throughout the area, resulting in low scores and scores being made as a result of interceptions and fumbles.

In seeking an all-around performance by an individual on the defense, the judges have selected a Groveland player who has been forced to go both ways for his team. he plays offensive guard and defensive tackle in each game.

It is easy to overlook an outstanding individual performance when it is done with a team in a losing effort, however Steve Whitmore is one of those.

He has been named defensive All-Area Player of the Week.
