LEESBURG  - With Leesburg missing Stanford 2012 commit Noor Davis and University of Miami 2012 commit D'Mauri Jones Friday night due to injuries, Randy Trivers Yellow Jackets team came up with a complete team effort on the road in hostile Cane Country.

Both teams had trouble moving the football in the first quarter. The Jacket defense has not given up a score in the first half in three games in 2011. At the halftime they had only given up 6 points in the last 10 quarters. Mount Dora is the first team to score two offensive touchdowns in a game this year against the "Black Jackets" defense in 2011.

The defense is playing like the Hubert O. Dabney defenses from 1968-1971.

Vegas Harley was held below his season average of total yards against the Jackets Friday night. The Jackets slowed him down, he finished the night with 70 yards passing yards, 134 yards rushing and two touchdown passes.

Mount Dora didn't pick up a first down until 1:55 remaining in the first quarter.

Flint Hicks sat out Friday's game with a injury. His superb blocking skills was missing from the fullback position. The Jackets were held to under 80 yards rushing in the first half. They came into the game averaging 225 yards per game. Emmanuel Nelson and Anthony Miller alternated at the fullback and tailback position in Hicks abscense.

With Noor Davis out with a undisclosed injury quarterback Undra Mitchem, Jr. had to take over the holding duties on extra point tries against Mount Dora.

2 penalties by the Mount Dora defense negated two turnovers by the Jackets offense, allowing to drives to continue.

The passing game averaged 198 yards per game and 2.2 touchdowns per game in 2010. Without D'Mauri Jones the Jackets have not had a 100 yards passing game so far in the 2011 season, relying heavily on the run game. The offense has only produced three passing touchdowns in 2011. At this point in the season last year there had been 11 touchdown passes. There were a total of 21 touchdown passes in 2010. There were none in the first game of the season against Tavares.

Special teams play have been good all season with sophomore Demetric Blue making big plays all season on special teams. Austin Walker is doing a great job with the punting duties.

The Jackets had only one pass attempt in the second half against Mount Dora

Defensive back Jermaine Gasden is slowly becoming one of the best defensive backs in Central Florida. He is a great open field tackler and pass defender. Look for him to be on the recruiting radar by seasons end.

Zac Mahan is playing his first year of varsity football and has had a immediate impact in all three games this season for the "Black Jackets" defense. The best is yet to come for this senior as he gets more game reps with the first team defense.

Emmanuel Nelson and Anthony Miller are becoming a dangerous one two punch in the Leesburg backfield. Leesburg is averaging over 250 yards per game with this tandem. Nelson is averaging over 6.5 yards per carry and Miller 6.9 yards per carry.

Sophomore James Eldrigde has quietly replaced Ben Rizzo last years place kicker with kicking duties. He has been almost perfect on PAT and FG attempts this season. Eldridge is becoming deadly with his FG range and extra point accuracy.
