St. Mary's High School have been selected to play for the 2012 U.S. Under-19 National Team, assembled by USA Football. The team will compete Feb. 1 - National Signing Day - in the third annual International Bowl, formerly Team USA vs. The World.
The International Bowl is sanctioned by International Federation of American Football. IFAF is composed of 62 nations spanning six continents that possess a national federation dedicated solely to American football.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – It’s significant that three days of practices are in the books for the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game.
As is usually the case, the players get more comfortable around the third day and begin to show a wider range of their talents. Their coaches have taken notice, too.

Jan 3, 2012 - Outsiders might believe the loss of Andrew Luck will put the Cardinal right back in the Pac-12 cellar. The last few recruiting classes, however, should see to it that Stanford doesn't fall quite that far.
When Jim Harbaugh took over at Stanford, everything changed. Perhaps the most notable chance was in Stanford's recruiting approach, selling itself as an Ivy-type school that plays BCS football. The approach has been more successful than anyone, probably even Harbaugh, could have imagined.
Last year, according to at least one scouting service, Stanford signed 10 players rated as four-stars or better. That's an incredible number.
And with Harbaugh's, and now Luck's, departure to the NFL, the Cardinal keeps on rolling. And that's very impressive given the stringent academic standards players are held to on the farm.

Stanford already has commitments from several top prospects, including six players rated four-stars or higher.
Outside linebacker Noor Davis of Leesburg (Fla.) is perfect for the Cardinal's 3-4 scheme. The 6'4", 235-pound Davis is adept at getting upfield and rushing the passer. He should be able to do so from that position for the Cardinal. Davis is rated four-stars by most services and held offers from every major school in the country.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Noor Davis of Leesburg, Fla., and Noah Spence of Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, Pa.) are USA TODAY All-USA First-Team linebackers, the type of recruits Penn State, known as "Linebacker U," once might have landed.
But Penn State's recruiting class, already hurting before the child sexual abuse scandal that engulfed it in November, hasn't gotten a commitment from Davis, who's says he plans to sign with Stanford, or Spence, who says he will sign with Ohio State, or for that matter, from any of the recruits at the Under Armour All-America Football Game Thursday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

"There aren't any Penn State commits here, but there are some de-commits here from Penn State," said Davis Tuesday. "I didn't want to go to a school that was amid NCAA allegations or controversy. I want to go and try and win a bowl game, a ring, all four years. So I don't want to be punished for the mistakes of somebody before me. I wanted to go someplace where they wouldn't do something like that and never have, so I wouldn't have to deal with it."

A Florida high school outside linebacker was picked last week to win the Butkus Award for the second consecutive football season.
Leesburg High’s Noor Davis, who transferred over from The Villages, was honored as the best high school linebacker in the country, averaging double-digit tackles for loss and four forced fumbles playing for an 8-2 team. He will sign a grant-in-aid to play on the next level for academically prestigious Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Tony Steward of Mantanzas (Clemson signee) was the linebacker selected last year by the Butkus committee.

LEESBURG, Fla. – (December 5, 2011) – Noor Davis, a senior at Leesburg High School, has been honored with the 2011 high school Butkus Award® presented to the nation’s best linebacker by the award’s namesake Dick Butkus in a surprise ceremony at the high school today.
Davis was selected by a panel of 51 coaches, recruiters, scouts and journalists coordinated by Pro Football Weekly. Davis joins Luke Kuechly of Boston College as 2011 Butkus Award honorees. The professional Butkus Award, last year won by Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers, will be announced in January 2012. Last year’s high school winner was Tony Steward of St. Augustine, Fla.
“All six high school finalists were extremely worthy choices with Noor Davis emerging from one of the closest votes we’ve ever had,” said Hub Arkush, editor of Pro Football Weekly. “As good a football player as Noor Davis is, he is an even better student and person. He is extremely smart, well-rounded and has endless potential. His big-play ability really stood out the last two years making him the choice among a group of real standouts.”

Dick Butkus was considered to be one of the meanest and toughest football players in history.
In a nine-year career with the Chicago Bears, Butkus turned professional gridirons into his calling card, with running backs, quarterbacks and receivers strewn about as evidence that he had been there.
Lore has it that Butkus was once criticized for biting an opponent's fingers when they protruded through his facemask. According to the story, Butkus acknowledged the biting incident, and told the opponent, "anything that comes inside my facemask belongs to me.
Butkus played with an anger and toughness that few before or since have ever possessed. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979, the first year he was eligible to be inducted.

LEESBURG — NFL great Dick Butkus surprised Leesburg's football players Monday afternoon when he walked out of a closet in the team's meeting room and presented Noor Davis with the Butkus Award as the nation's top high school linebacker.
Most surprised might have been Davis.
"It was an incredible experience to win the award, it being presented by Dick Butkus and to represent my school, the community and my family," Davis said. "It's a tremendous honor to know that I always will be attached to a legend like Dick Butkus. I will always be tied to this award."
Butkus is a pro football Hall of Fame member who played nine years with the Chicago Bears (1965-73) and is generally regarded as one of the best to play the game. His No. 51 has been retired by the Bears and was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times and twice was the defensive player of the year.
The Butkus Award began in 1985 and was originally awarded to the top collegiate linebacker and was sponsored by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando. In 2008, the Butkus Foundation took over control of the award and expanded it to include a high school and a pro player.

UPDATE — (1:56 EST) Just minutes ago Davis chose Stanford, proving most of the pundits wrong… and in some cases twice. That said, my final thought probably holds true. Expect this to go down to the wire, with the Irish’s visit to Palo Alto at the end of the season possibly playing a determining factor…
I don’t usually make it a habit of posting on the early press-conferences of a recruiting cycle, but Florida outside linebacker Noor Davis seems like a pretty good exception to the rule.
If there’s a player that’s universally beloved amongst college recruiters, Davis qualifies. He’s got an offer list that rivals anybody’s, quite literally. Thanks to some research done by friend of the program BPH, Davis already has offers from Alabama, Florida, FSU, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC. Or as BPH would put it, 9/10th of the golden list of offers — missing only Texas, a school that rarely reaches out of state for players.

LEESBURG - Leesburg High School senior outside linebacker Noor Davis will be making a official recruiting visit to the University of Southern California this weekend. Davis is the first official visit for the Trojans this year. The Trojan's take on it's longtime rival UCLA in it's season finale. Davis has already made a unofficial visit this past summer but wants to view the campus and it facilities on a official visit.
"I want a more in-depth look at USC," Davis said. "To spend time with the coaches and the players. And I know it's going to be a good game because it's a rivalry game."
Davis stands firm with his commitment to Stanford University but is leaving his options open. Davis is originally from Irvine, California and is very familiar with USC and the surrounding area.
"It's going to be a lot of fun," Davis said. "I have family, friends, teammates and coaches coming and it will be good to share that experience with them. I've watched the last three games and I knew that if the opportunity presented itself, then that was the game I would play in. I'm blessed to be able to make that dream come true."

LEESBURG - Leesburg High School senior OLB Noor Davis made a official visit to Auburn University over the weekend. Davis has made a verbal commitment to Stanford University for the 2012 season. Also a visitor for Auburn’s Homecoming game in 2010, Davis said this time around he got to experience a lot more of the campus and also the atmosphere surrounding the team.
“Actually last year all I saw was the Tigers’ Den and the game,” Davis recalled. “This time I had the chance to see the campus and the locker rooms and the facilities and the players and the academic environment. Really I got to see the school this time.”
If Davis decides to attend Auburn he will be the second player from Leesburg High School to play there. Former Jackets standout Jim Skuthan was a Academic All-American at Auburn in the late 1970's. The 2012 Under Armour All-American from Leesburg, Fla. the nations number rated outside linebacker by ESPNU 150 made his third of four planned visits this weekend, checking out the Auburn program for the first time since attending the Tennessee-Chattanooga game last fall.
"It was a very fun trip," Davis said. "I had the chance to spend time with the players and the coaches. Auburn is a fun place and I enjoyed my visit. Spending time with players and coaches was the best part."
“I got a chance to get a closer look at Auburn. It’s a great university and a great program," said Davis on Auburn. "They have a great coaching staff and players, too. I know they are going to be very successful for years to come.”
Redshirt running back Corey Grant served as his host on Friday and true freshman defensive back Jermaine Whitehead hosted Davis on Saturday. Davis said he had a great time talking to some of the players on the team while also getting a feel for how they get along.
“It was a lot of fun,” Davis said. “They are like a family. They all take care of each other and all have each other’s best interests. It’s a special thing."
“It just stood out to me how everybody is really laid back and like a family,” he added. “That’s something that is very good.”
Now that he has visited Auburn and Alabama, the Stanford commit said he also plans to take a visit to USC before signing day. Davis said he is still firm on his commitment to Stanford.

“No sir nothing has changed with me,” Davis said. “I’m still committed to Stanford.”
“I’m just looking forward to seeing the pageantry of Auburn,” Davis tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. “I was up there last year for their homecoming game so this will be the second time for homecoming. It’s going to be a great atmosphere. It will be a good time to meet with the coaches and players.
“It’s about comparison,” Davis added. “You never know what you have until you compare it to something else.”
“It’s a great environment,” Davis said. “It’s a great school. They won a national championship last year so they are successful. This year they are a young team and they’re trying to rebuild. The coaches think I can be a valuable part of their team at the outside linebacker position. I could do a lot of things for them.”

Davis said that the lack of veteran depth at linebacker is something to consider if chooses Auburn, but in the end he knows he’ll have to work for a spot no matter who he ends up signing with on National Signing Day.
“That’s definitely a special thing, especially at a big-time school like that,” Davis said. “Wherever you go you’re going to have to compete. Even if I went to Auburn I would have to compete.”
Noor Davis was the only official visitor in Auburn this weekend not committed to the Tigers. Davis arrived Friday night with an uncle and left Sunday afternoon. Davis has been impressed with the family atmosphere at Auburn.
"I didn't know how big the group is as a whole and how they all got along with each other," said Davis. "They are very much like a family and the atmosphere between the players and the coaches is a very good environment."
"Other head coaches have tried to recruit me and I think it's very special to have the head coach at a prestigious university recruiting you, that's a big deal," said Davis. "I definitely know that I'm of importance as a coaching staff and as a recruit. That's something special."
Chizik wasn't the only person heavily recruiting Davis over the weekend. Auburn commitments Zeke Pike and JaQuay Williams spent time with the Stanford pledge, selling him on the idea of joining them on the Plains.
"They were definitely trying to recruit me, but they are good guys," Davis said. "I know they will do very well in college and they are looking forward to playing for Auburn. They were talking about the environment and playing in the SEC and all the different sales pitches."
Auburn defeated Samford 35-16 on Saturday, and Davis was paying close attention to the Tigers' defense. Auburn believes Davis has the versatility to play multiple positions on defense at the next level.
"I was looking for my position, how they fill gaps, and looking at how aggressive the defense is," Davis said. "Auburn said they like me as an outside linebacker. They feel like I can play all three of the linebacker spots and be athletic and physical and make a lot of big plays."
Davis isn't wasting anyone's time however, as each school he visits is with a purpose.
"I'm solid to Stanford," said Davis. "Every school that I'm visiting are all my top schools. If I had a top four, the four schools that I'm visiting would be my top schools. I'm not just going to random schools to visit. I'm going to schools that I strongly consider. My parents encouraged me to make sure my decision was 100 percent."
Academically, Davis has a 4.3 GPA and is already a full qualifier.
