Former Virginia Tech QB Ike Whitaker is now the quarterbacks coach at Leesburg High School.

LEESBURG, FLORIDA - Leesburg High School 3rd year head coach Randy Trivers has a reputation for having some of the nations best coaches on his staff at Leesburg. For the second season in a row he has had to replace one of his coordinators. The Jackets once again seem not to have lost a step starting the season 2-0.

Trivers added his former QB at Germantown's Northwest High School to the coaching staff for the 2012 season. Ike Whitaker a former QB at Virginia Tech is the quarterbacks coach for the Jackets this season. He brings plenty of knowledge and experience to Leesburg.

Whitaker signed with Virginia Tech as one of the country’s premier high school players, rated by Rivals.com as the third-best dual-threat quarterback in the nation. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound signal-caller led Germantown's Northwest High School football team to a 30-6 record over his three years as a starter and racked up nearly 5,000 career passing yards along with 56 passing touchdowns. As a senior, Whitaker threw for a school-record 2,856 yards and 28 touchdowns and added 10 scores on the ground, carrying the Jaguars to a Maryland Class 3A state championship.

He was one of the most highly touted and decorated players to ever come out of Montgomery County—one of a select few who could boast winning a state title the same year being named 'All Met Player of the Year' by the Washington Post.

Whitaker comes to Leesburg after a coaching stint at his alma mater Northwest.
