LEESBURG - Juilliard Roberts, Jr. played a monster game Friday night accounting for 126 all purpose yards and one touchdown catch against Eustis in a 23-7 win for the Jackets. He isn't the first Roberts to have a big game against the Panthers at Leesburg Memorial Field at Hubert O. Dabney Stadium. On September 4, 1994 his uncle Bishon Roberts, who was a sophomore tailback, began his varsity career with 27 carries for 242 yards and two touchdowns in an 18-6 victory over Eustis. By the way there was senior fullback named Jeremy Lacey (my youngest sibling and Juilliard Roberts, Jr. third cousin) who was his lead blocker that night.
Emanuel Nelson - had his second straight 100 yard game Friday night he is on pace to become Leesburg's first 1000 yard rusher in the Randy Trivers era.

The return of the I formation - Head Coach Randy Trivers have the Jackets offense back in their tradition I formation. Leesburg has produced a number of great I-Backs in the programs storied history. The most notable Oran Singleton who at the time was the States 6th all-time leading rusher at the end of his career in 1992. Herbert "Tank" Ellis and Reddick Williams are some other great I-backs to name a few. 1994 when Bishon Roberts had his 200 plus yards rushing against Eustis he also ran out of the "I". The offense has produced over 500 yards on the ground so far this season.
Outside linebackers Noor Davis and Jordan Tucker have been playing tight end on offense when the Jackets are in a double tight end set. Davis is 6-5 230 lbs and Tucker is 6-0 230 lbs have given Leesburg a power running game that it hasn't had in almost 2 decades. Davis who has committed to the #6 ranked Stanford Cardinal and is the #2 ranked OLB by the 2012 ESPNU Top100 Outside linebackers. Tucker is rated as the #50 player in the Miami Herald High School Sports Blog Florida Top 100 for the summer class of 2013. Both have shown their abilities as complete football players and athletes.
The Jacket Defense held Jeremiah Sams to under 50 yards rushing. Sams came into the game as the leading rusher for Lake and Sumter counties.
Austin Walker - has done a outstanding job punting the football this season. He replaced R.J. Peppers who graduated and is now punting for Towson University. He answered all of the preseason questions about who was going to replace Peppers great kicking last season. Walker kept Tavares and Eustis in bad field position in both games. Walker also is a up and coming player on the Leesburg Defense. He had several tackles Friday night and a interception late in the game.
The Playing surface at Leesburg Memorial Field at Hubert O. Dabney Stadium is one of the best in the state of Florida. The field was built with a large crown in the middle of the field and drains very well. The players had almost no problem with footing against Eustis after a one hour and twenty minute rain delay. Kudos to the maintenance crew at Leesburg High School.
Dominating defense maybe? The Jacket defense has outscored the opposing offenses this season 10-6.
The Jackets came into the game as the #1 ranked team in the Daily Commercial 13. They are on the Orlando Sentinel "Football Super 16" watch list and received votes in the Class 7A top ten football poll.
Noor Davis saw more time in a three point stance Friday night. Usually he plays standing up at a OLB but saw a lot of snaps at the defensive end position against Eustis.

Anthony Miller - 65 yards rushing 2 touchdowns including a 52 yard score.
Austin Walker - made key punts all night. Had a interception and made several tackles and pass breakups.
Emanuel Nelson - Second straight 100 yard effort.
Demetric Blue - Recovered onside kick made special team plays all night.
Estader Maurepas - Great offensive line play help control the line of scrimmage.
Garrett Nelson - Great offensive line play help control the line of scrimmage.
Chris Smith - Great offensive line play help control the line of scrimmage.
Chase O'Donell - Made several key tackles during the game. Play outstanding football from his middle linebacker spot.
Flint Hicks - Blocked well from his fullback position. Had key short yardage gains opening up play action for the offense.
D'Mauri Jones - Has played very unselfish all season long he is the total team player. Jones has verbally committed to the University of Miami for the 2012 season. Jones has excellent blocking skills as a wide receiver and has helped the Jacket running game click on all cylinders.
