3 Quarterbacks Lift Cornell Past Harvard

ITHACA, N.Y. - Kent Craven turned Steve Vago's blocked punt into a early touchdown and backup kicker Ron Redja scored 11 points yesterday as Cornell defeated Harvard 41-14.
Cornell defense came up big with plays early in the game when Vago broke through the line to get his hands on a Harvard punt which Craven found in the end zone to get the Big Red rolling to their victory against one loss.
Cornell's second score was also set up by the defense when Brian McFarlin recovered a Harvard fumble which Redja turned into a 47 yard field goal.
Redja playing in place of injured kicker Keith Manz, also had a 42 yard field goal and five extra points.
Using three quarterbacks in the second half , Cornell offense took control of the game with Tom Weidenkopf scoring twice from three yards out and Bob Muha scoring on a one yard run on drives set up by passes thrown by Mike Tanner and Mike Ryan.
Third string quarterback Chris Metz teamed up with Jim Burry (Leesburg High School, Leesburg Florida) on a 79 yard pass for Cornell's final score.
Rich Horner provided most of Harvard's offense by catching seven passes for a 113 yards and one touchdown. Harvard was shutout until the final quarter when quarterback Joe Lahti hit Horner and Jim Calinan for a touchdown.
Harvard is now 1-1 in the Ivy League and 1-3 overall. Cornell is 2-0 in the league.
