Jim Skuthan named to team Feb. 4, 1981

Former Leesburg High Standout Jim Skuthan at Auburn University

Jim Skuthan, one of Auburn's most consistent offensive lineman for the past three seasons, has been named to the ALL-SEC academic football team.

A graduate of Leesburg High School, Skuthan averaged a 3.54 out of possible 4.0 as a graduate student in Political Science. The hardworking guard was instrumental in opening many holes that allowed three Auburn runners to gain more than 1,000 yards the past two seasons.

Skuthan joins five other Tigers that were named to the team. It was the second year in a row that Auburn has led the conference in all-academic performers.

We are extremely proud of these young men," said Auburn Athletic director Lee Hayley.  "They epitomize what a scholar-athlete is all about. They are good football players and are true scholars. They are a credit to their families and to Auburn."
