LEESBURG -- Lake City Columbia used its superior size to pound out a 21-0 victory over Leesburg in a Class 4A quarterfinal Friday night.

Establishing their Thou Shall Not Pass philosophy in the opening quarter, the Tigers (8-3) ran the ball 61 times and threw it only twice. They racked up 298 rushing yards and held the overmatched Yellow Jackets (8-3) to 15 yards on the ground.

Leading 7-0 at halftime, Columbia possessed the ball for all but four plays in the third quarter. Damarquis Williams finished off a 74-yard drive with his second touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run.

Late in the third quarter, the Tigers launched a 60-yard drive, all on the ground. Tailback Tiger Powell, who rushed for 128 yards on 24 carries, scored the final touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard run.
"They were just bigger and stronger than we were," Leesburg coach Charles Nassar said. "Their second-team offensive line was bigger than our defensive line.

"We called everything in our playbook, and nothing worked, but it was a great year for us. It's been a learning process, and now we just have to learn to win playoff games."

In the first half, Columbia surprised the Yellow Jackets by starting the game with a formation without a quarterback. The Tigers marched 58 yards on 11 plays to take a 7-0 lead.
