Jimmy Oxford in an interesting letter to Mr. Lonnie Lee tells about his interesting experiences as a freshman candidate for football at the university. He was one of 130 to answer the first call which however was decreased to about a 100 after a few days. There were 17 candidates for center, one of whom was Jimmy. He states that Davis of Plant City was giving him the stiffest competition for a permanent berth as a freshman center.

LEESBURG - The Fightin' Jackets of Leesburg High School started their 2013 Spring Football season this afternoon. The Jackets are coming off a 6-5 (2-2) season, which included a first round playoff lost to Oviedo. The FHSAA allows its member schools 20 practice sessions and one exhibition football game annually.
Head Coach Randy Trivers will have his hands full this spring with the offensive and defensive lines being hit hard by graduation. Trivers record is 20-10 since arriving at Leesburg in 2010. The Yellow Jackets end their spring with a game against Umatilla at Leesburg Memorial Field at Hubert O. Dabney Stadium on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7 p.m.
One newcomer who is expected to make a big splash is Eustis Transfer Jabari Dunham (6-2, 190). The senior is listed as a Honorable Mention selection for the Orlando Sentinel 2014 Super 60. Dunham will be the second quarterback to take over the reins on offense under Trivers. Dunham had over 2,000 yards of total offense as a junior last season for the Panthers. He is a dual threat and should thrive under Trivers 1,000 play offense.
Dunham's has two years experience as a varsity starter under his belt and will have to work with an inexperienced offensive line. Trivers has shown in the past that he can make adjustments on the fly and this should be a very interesting spring at Leesburg High School.
